How long does a Workday Financials implementation take?
It depends on two things: the deployment approach and the size and complexity of your organization. Workday offers several deployment styles — accelerated, fixed-scope programs designed for smaller organizations; phased deployments that bring core financials live first and add functionality like Budgets, Projects, or Expenses in later waves; and full-platform implementations that deploy everything at once. As a rough guide, a smaller organization (under 1,000 employees) can often go live in a year or less, while large, complex organizations may run multi-year programs of 3–5 years across all phases. On a first call we can tell you which approach fits your situation and what a realistic timeline looks like.
Do you work alongside systems integrators, or instead of them?
Both. We've served as project resources within implementations led by large integrators — including PwC, Accenture, KPMG, and Impact Advisors — so we know how those programs run from the inside. And where a targeted solution or advisory need is identified, we're an alternative to hiring a large system implementer: same certified expertise, scoped to exactly what you need.
How do engagements and pricing work?
We shape the engagement to the project. For advisory work, that's often a fixed weekly commitment — for example, 8 hours per week on a retainer basis. For project work, we bill an hourly rate against a committed schedule, whether that's full-time or part-time hours. We work primarily remote, with on-site support for key milestone events like design sessions, go-live, and hypercare.
Can you help with a system someone else implemented?
Yes — about half our projects are exactly that: refining and improving a Workday system that's already live. Whether the original implementation was rushed, the business has outgrown the original design, or you simply suspect you're not getting full value, we analyze what's there and make targeted improvements.
Why hire WorkFin instead of a large consulting firm?
With large firms, the resource you're promised isn't always the resource you get — senior names in the proposal can turn into freshly certified consultants still learning their workstream, or even Workday itself. Our advice for any Workday project: pick your team, especially the key resources whose knowledge and experience you're depending on. With WorkFin, the experienced consultant you talk to is the one doing the work.
What's your background?
Our founder spent 12 years as an accountant before discovering a talent for automating the repetitive parts of the job — the month-end close, the manual processes. That turned into helping others automate their work, and eventually into Workday consulting. It's why our approach starts with the accounting, not the software: we've lived the processes we configure.
What does getting started look like?
A 30-minute call to discuss your project needs. From there, we'll tell you honestly whether we're a fit — and if we are, propose a scope that matches the problem.
